About the workshop

Learn how to create beautiful hand-lettering mimicking modern calligraphy without using brush pens or pointed pen  — no calligraphy experience (or fancy tools!) needed.

In this beginner-friendly 2.5 hours workshop, you’ll discover the faux-calligraphy technique and learn how to personalise pretty much any surface, starting with your very own custom tote bag.

Faux-Calligraphy, derived from the French word "Fake", offers the same look as modern calligraphy without the need for a specific tool/pen to get the thin and thick strokes. And the best part, is that you can apply the same technique to lots of different surfaces (windows, chalkboards, t-shirt, pencil case, ceramic, plastic...).

You will learn:

• what is faux-calligraphy

• Which tools to use

• the 3 steps to faux-calligraphy

• the basic strokes that form letters

• practise writing the alphabet (upper- and lower case)

• how to join letters to form words

• 4 positive quotes exemplar, and/-or practise your chosen text to write on your tote bag

• Tips to apply the technique to other types of surface.

All materials are provided (workbook, cotton tote bag, fabric marker, tracing and carbon paper) which you will take home to continue practising your new skill. Coffee/Tea and sweet treats are also included.

The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and it doesn't require neat handwriting or drawing skills. 

The Workshop Room is located on the ground floor next to the cafe and is wheelchair accessible.
